LVL
Low-gain full-range overdrive designed for stacking, co-developed with Electronic Audio Experiments.
The LVL is 1981 Inventions' second pedal, released in June 2023 after four years of development with John Snyder of Electronic Audio Experiments. Designed as a "non-transparent overdrive," the LVL adds harmonics and dynamics rather than disappearing into your signal.
Unlike the high-gain DRV, the LVL is a low-gain device utilizing a unique circuit combining light clipping with op-amp push. The simple two-knob interface (LVL for gain, VOL for output) belies a sophisticated tone-shaping circuit that excels at adding color and life to clean tones or stacking with other drives.
Built in the same distinctive folded steel enclosure as the DRV, the LVL shares its sibling's premium construction and boutique appeal while offering a completely different flavor of overdrive.
