DS-1-4A Anniversary Distortion

The DS-1-4A is the 40th anniversary edition of the DS-1, released in 2018 in a black-and-gold finish to commemorate four decades of the orange distortion. Internally, it's the same circuit as the standard DS-1, but the limited-run cosmetics make it a collector's piece.

Same silicon 1N4148 hard-clipping circuit, same Tone/Level/Distortion control layout, same 4mA power draw. The anniversary edition doesn't change the sound because Boss understood that the DS-1's circuit is the point, not a platform for modification.

The black enclosure with gold lettering and 40th anniversary markings distinguishes it visually from the standard orange version. Otherwise identical in every electrical and mechanical specification.

A commemorative release for players who want a DS-1 with some visual distinction. The premium is in the finish and the limited availability, not in the sound.
