AR-133

BSS Audio (now part of Harman) built the AR-133 on their AR-116 audio path, regarded by many professionals as a reference standard for active DI boxes. The sound quality is legendary, particularly on acoustic and bass guitars.

Input attenuation switches between 0, -20, or -40dB, making it suitable for instrument, line, or amplifier-level signals. A ground-lift switch provides quick solutions to ground-loop problems. The unit automatically switches from phantom power to internal 9V battery if console power fails—ensuring uninterrupted performance.

The rugged aluminum extrusion case with polyurethane end-cheeks gives the AR-133 its distinctive look. The arched case allows cables to run back underneath for neat cable management. Specs include THD below 0.005% at 1kHz, noise below -105dB, and frequency response from 30Hz to 20kHz.
