Formula No. 55

The Catalinbread Formula No. 55 captures the Fender 5E3 Tweed Deluxe, the 15-watt push-pull amp that Neil Young made legendary through decades of abuse. This was Catalinbread's earlier take on the 5E3 circuit, predating the more refined Formula 55 Foundation.

The 5E3's magic lives in its interactive volume controls and the way it transitions from crystalline clean to ragged overdrive based entirely on how hard you hit the strings. The Formula No. 55 captures that dynamic response in pedal form.

This version has been succeeded by the Formula 55 Foundation, which added a Hi/Lo switch and Presence control for more tonal flexibility. Runs on 9-18V DC.
