The Brutalist is God City Instruments' flagship distortion, over 10 years in development by Kurt Ballou and John Snyder of Electronic Audio Experiments.
Main controls: Level, Treble, Bass (boost-only Baxandall EQ), and Distortion. The dual filter section adds Filter A (band-pass) and Filter B (all-pass/phase) — engaged via the Filth footswitch. The band-pass creates textures from scooped brickwall fuzz to cocked-wah leads, while the all-pass filter affects phase relationships for unique tonal character rarely found on distortion pedals.
Bypass footswitch includes the Baxandall EQ. Minimum 150mA supply required. Used by heavy music producers and players who need articulate distortion that translates in recording.
