Second Voice
PLL harmonizer with suboctave and fuzz. Glitchy analog synth tones from your guitar or bass.
Infanem (Instruments For A New Electric Music) started in Portland and now operates from Oakland, California. Founded by Ken Schurer, they specialize in analog synth-style effects using phase-locked loop technology. The Second Voice uses a PLL circuit to generate harmonies that track your playing, combined with an analog suboctave and fuzz. The result lands somewhere between harmonizer and synthesizer, creating glitchy, synthy tones that remain harmonically rich rather than sterile. Controls include tone shaping, external sustain/gate control, and CV/expression input to control the Range parameter. The interplay between the PLL tracking and the fuzz creates textures impossible with digital pitch shifters. The Deluxe version added more features but is now discontinued and collectible.
