J. Rockett combined boost and buffer functions in the Steampunk for players dealing with signal degradation from long cable runs or large pedalboards. The buffer restores high-frequency loss while the boost adds level.

The Steampunk solves real-world gigging problems. Long cables and multiple pedals sap high end. The buffer section restores sparkle, and the boost provides clean gain when needed.
