Moonbow
Dual resonant filter with switchable HP/LP modes paired with channel-strip overdrive.
Land Devices is a mysterious boutique pedal operation run out of Oakland, CA. Known for their minimalist aesthetic and refined takes on classic circuits, Land Devices has built a cult following among players seeking unique, well-crafted effects.
The Moonbow combines a voltage-controlled resonant filter with a hot-rodded overdrive section derived from the Land Mixer's channel strip. The filter operates in either high-pass or low-pass mode via a toggle switch, with frequency sweepable from 20Hz to 5kHz. Resonance adds harmonic emphasis at the cutoff point, though settings above 70% can cause the filter to self-oscillate.
The overdrive section offers gain ranging from -13dB to +20dB, working with both instrument and line level signals. A 3.5mm CV input on the front panel accepts external expression control, making the Moonbow ideal for integration with modular synths and expression pedals. The filter-into-drive topology creates everything from subtle harmonic enhancement to aggressive resonant saturation.
