Amber Overdrive
BJF design crossing fuzz and overdrive. Silicon fuzz into JFET simulating cranked 100W Marshall.
The Amber Overdrive sits between overdrive and fuzz, designed by Björn Juhl to simulate a vintage fuzz going into a cranked 100-watt Marshall. The circuit runs silicon fuzz into JFET-based overdrive, creating thick sounds whether playing chords or single notes.
Medium input impedance deliberately loads your pickups for smoother tone. This means the Amber works best as the first pedal in your chain. Running a buffer ahead will increase treble and upper midrange, which may or may not suit your needs.
The Drive control allows pickup-volume-controlled saturation at lower settings. The Tone knob is a shelving EQ operating between a bright switch and typical amp treble control. Volume sets output level with enough range for significant boost.
True bypass with grounded input when bypassed. Standard 9V battery or center-negative adapter power. The circuit shares DNA with the discontinued Golden Cello but offers more output. Works best into Marshall-type amps rather than Fender-style cleans.
