Chupacabra V2

Built on the CD4049UBE CMOS Hex chip, the Chupacabra delivers the raw, responsive character that made CMOS-based overdrives cult favorites. The circuit produces some slight hiss—normal for these chips—but the trade-off is incredible touch sensitivity and dynamic range.

Two controls keep it simple: Gain adjusts saturation levels, Volume handles output. The voicing sits pretty flat with a slight bump to lows and highs, letting your amp and guitar define the final tone. The range spans pushed tweed amp breakup through "balls to the wall amp on edge of death" territory, depending on how hard you push it.

The pedal responds to playing dynamics like few others—dig in hard for saturation, back off for cleanup. Panel-mounted jacks (top-mount configuration) ensure road durability. Enclosure size: 4.82" × 2.62" × 1.43" with true bypass switching. Draws approximately 15mA from standard 9V DC power.
