Hephaestus V2
Bosstone-evolved fuzz with voltage-based tone shaping. Analog sub-octave effect at ~1 o'clock Warning knob position.
Evolved from the Bosstone circuit concept, the Hephaestus Fuzz reimagines voltage manipulation as a tone control. The Warning knob doesn't adjust traditional gain—it varies the circuit's voltage, dramatically shifting harmonic character and response. Turn it to approximately 1 o'clock and an analog sub-octave effect emerges without any digital processing.
The circuit combines NPN and PNP transistor pairs with a hand-measured silicon NPN transistor. An internal volume trimmer handles master output level since there's no front-panel volume control—the Warning knob is your primary interface. This unconventional approach rewards experimentation over traditional pedal operation.
Compact enclosure (3.65" × 1.53" × 1.07") with mono in/out and true bypass switching. Draws less than 10mA. The pedal produces classic fuzz tones at lower Warning settings, becoming increasingly experimental as you push the voltage higher. Not for players who want familiar controls—this is for sonic exploration.
