Chorus Ensemble Mini
Compact CE-1 recreation in 1590B with 512-stage BBD, switchable buffer and depth mods.
The PastFX Chorus Ensemble Mini packs the Boss CE-1 Chorus Ensemble circuit into a pedalboard-friendly 1590B enclosure at approximately one-quarter the size of the original. It uses the same obsolete 512-stage 1970s bucket-brigade chip with bipolar voltage operation.
Controls include Level, Vibrato Depth and Rate, Chorus Intensity (controls both rate and depth), a High/Low input sensitivity switch, a Vibrato/Chorus toggle, and a Normal/Effect footswitch. Optional Depth Mod controls chorus and vibrato depth, while the Buffer Mod restores high frequencies. A red LED peak level indicator and blue LFO rate LED provide visual feedback.
Stereo/mono outputs allow stereo setup (wet signal to stereo jack, dry to mono output) or standard mono operation. The circuit features triangle-wave LFO for chorus and sinewave LFO for vibrato with Noise Killer circuitry. JFET switching matches the original CE-1 design. 112 x 60 x 53mm enclosure drawing 110-130mA at 9VDC center-negative. Handmade in Brisbane, Australia.
