Decade
Josh Homme's secret weapon reborn as a preamp pedal. That raw, gritty solid-state Decade tone.
The Peavey Decade was a humble 10-watt solid-state practice amp from the early 1980s that became a cult favorite after Josh Homme revealed it as a key ingredient in Queens of the Stone Age recordings. Peavey brought it back as a preamp pedal in their Legacy series, capturing that raw, compressed character in pedalboard format.
The TransTube circuit recreates the Decade's solid-state gain structure with an internal high-voltage supply from a standard 9V input. Controls include Pre and Post gain knobs plus a three-band passive EQ for dialing in everything from clean grit to full saturation.
Part of Peavey's Legacy series alongside the VTM and other reissued classics, the Decade Preamp Pedal puts an unlikely recording secret within reach of anyone chasing that lo-fi, garage-rock compression.
