Radial Engineering designed the J48 as an active direct box optimized for the limited current available from 48V phantom power.

Unique switching power supply raises internal rail voltage to handle peaks up to 9 volts - far exceeding typical active DIs. This provides lower distortion, half the intermodulation distortion, and significantly improved dynamics.

220k ohm input impedance, 600 ohm balanced output. 80Hz highpass filter reduces mud and increases headroom. Frequency response exceeds 40kHz.

No batteries or external power needed - phantom power only. Industry standard for acoustic guitar and bass.
