The Shark Warzy Drive, marketed as the Extreme Metal Box, is a high-gain distortion pedal developed by Shark Effect, a brand from Thai music store TUIMUSIC, in collaboration with slash metal guitarist Warzy. Released in the 2010s, this pedal represents a player-focused approach to high-gain distortion design, incorporating features specifically requested by Warzy for aggressive metal tones. Despite its Drive designation, the Warzy Drive functions as a full-blown high-gain distortion pedal rather than a traditional overdrive.
The control layout features Level, Gain, Bass, and Hi (treble) knobs providing comprehensive tonal shaping. The pedal's most distinctive features are its dual mid-frequency circuits and dual boost switches. Mid B functions as a regular EQ control for cutting or boosting midrange frequencies, while Mid A provides a separate cut/boost control with different frequency emphasis. This dual-mid architecture allows precise sculpting of the midrange character - critical for metal tones where midrange definition determines whether heavy riffs cut through or get lost in the mix.
The two boost switches provide additional gain staging options.
