Klipper
Clipping circuit with unique harmonic character. Adds edge without harshness.
The Klipper is based on the Laney Klipp amplifier's tube clipper circuit — the amp Tony Iommi used for early Black Sabbath. It replicates the Klipp's unique negative-side waveform clipping using voltage-starved, cold-clipping phase inverter topology with tube-amp power rectifier diodes as clippers.
Two negative-feedback transistor clipping stages pass the signal inverted, clipping the negative side twice. Volume, Fuzz, and Tone controls with input gain trimmed for higher-output pickups. Works best with humbuckers or loud P90s. Huge, amp-like Sabbathy fuzz that emulates the sound Iommi originally achieved by boosting a Laney Supergroup with a Dallas Rangemaster treble booster.
Handmade in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. True bypass. 9V battery or standard DC adapter.
