JC Emerald
Tube preamp based on legendary Marshall JCM800, modified for pedal use while staying true to single-channel JCM-800 design.
The JC Emerald faithfully recreates the preamp section of the iconic Marshall JCM800 amplifier, one of the most recorded and recognizable rock amp tones in history. While staying true to original JCM800 circuit architecture, Sushi Box modified the design for pedal and standalone preamp use. Latest version includes additional toggle switches that enhance flexibility beyond what the original amplifier offered.
Like the original unmodified 1980s single-channel JCM-800 amplifier, the JC Emerald delivers low-to-medium gain tones as its sweet spot. For high-gain applications, responds exceptionally well to a boost or overdrive pedal placed in front, just as players would traditionally push a JCM-800 amp. Contains two 12AX7 tubes running internally at 240V, providing authentic Marshall preamp tone with touch sensitivity and harmonic richness.
While designed primarily for guitar, sounds excellent on bass, much like the original JCM800. Bass players describe it as "Lemmy in a box," referencing Motörhead's legendary Marshall-driven bass tone. Measures 4.7" x 3.7" x 1.34" and requires 9-12VDC power supply capable of at least 600mA due to dual-tube circuit. Players seeking classic British rock tones with authentic tube response will find the JC Emerald delivers.
