Mayonaise Fuzz
Modern Big Muff-inspired fuzzstortion with Doping mid-boost, 1979 compression toggle, and Back Mode internal jumper.
The Mayonaise Fuzz is Umbrella Company's debut pedal—a modern fuzzstortion inspired by classic Big Muff circuits but not directly replicating any single version. Tokyo-based Umbrella Company (Japanese distributor of Chase Bliss and Empress Effects) designed it with versatility through toggle switches addressing traditional Muff limitations.
The Doping toggle tastefully boosts midrange frequencies, making the fuzz present in dense mixes—a departure from the classic Muff mid-scoop. The 1979 toggle delivers compressed yet airy modern fuzz with maintained low-frequency impact. Both toggles engaged simultaneously create intense, full-spectrum fuzz. Standard Volume, Sustain, and Tone controls provide tonal exploration across four toggle combinations.
An internal jumper enables Back Mode, emulating Russian Civil War Muff sounds for additional variation. Running on 9V DC center-negative power, the pedal uses discrete analog circuits and specific transistor selection following Umbrella Company's philosophy of vintage sound recreation through component choice. Handmade in small batches in Tokyo, it offers aggressive rich fuzz or refined tones depending on settings.
