Shiny
Boutique recreation of legendary Shin-Ei FY-2 fuzz capturing the buzzsaw saturation of shoegaze and post-punk classics.
The Shiny is Union Tube & Transistor's loving tribute to the Shin-Ei FY-2, the Japanese fuzz box that defined the sound of shoegaze and post-punk. The huge sag, upper octave artifacts, and grinding sustain heard on early Jesus and Mary Chain, Joy Division, and Radiohead records all came from FY-2 circuits—Pete Townshend was an early adopter who used the circuit for over a decade.
Union hasn't just cloned the original—they've refined it. The Shiny delivers more output for proper unity gain matching with modern amplifiers, and the low-end has been tightened to maintain note definition even in the thickest fuzz settings.
With a thick, churning bed of sonic destruction and just the right amount of ripping sizzle, the Shiny captures the magic that made the FY-2 legendary while making it practical for today's pedalboards.
