Il Distorsore
British valve amp-voiced distortion with three clipping modes and MKI/MKII switch. Carl Verheyen's go-to.
VDL Analogics built Il Distorsore in Italy to capture British valve amplifier character with unusual flexibility. The Variable Clipping knob offers three distinct voices: Clipping 1 delivers strong symmetrical clipping with even harmonics, Clipping 2 uses asymmetrical clipping to mimic a decoupled valve stage with odd harmonics for aggressive tones, and Clipping 3 provides light symmetrical clipping with a noticeable volume boost.
Controls include Post (output volume), Filtro (EQ), and Gain, plus a low-frequency boost switch to thicken single-coil guitars. The rear-panel MKI/MKII mode switch changes how the pedal responds to your playing. It stays dynamic even at extreme settings, never turning buzzy.
Guitarist Carl Verheyen calls the stock Distorsore indispensable to his sound. VDL designed it for blues, rock, and hard rock—not metal. Each pedal is handcrafted in Italy with premium components. The official website now redirects, suggesting VDL may no longer be in production.
