STO
Nashville-style overdrive inspired by the Nobels ODR-1. FET op-amp circuit.
The STO (Super Terrific Overdrive) is Way Huge's reimagining of the Nashville studio favorite Nobels ODR-1. Rather than the ODR-1's discrete FET input, the STO uses an FET op-amp and Jeorge Tripps' beloved 4741 quad op-amp.
Volume, Tone, and Drive provide smooth, silky overdrive that sounds like a perfectly tuned muscle car purring. The Drive knob deserves special recognition—its wide, responsive range makes it sound like natural amp breakup at any volume.
The circuit offers a more natural, carefully contoured midrange without the obvious bump of typical overdrives. The 4741 op-amp delivers an even smoother, more pillowy sound than the original. Street price $149.99.
