Tackleberry
Class-A JFET bass preamp with 23dB boost and switchable clipping—thick, punchy growl inspired by legendary 80s bass heads.
Weehbo began crafting pedals in Hannover, Germany in 2008, focusing on amp-inspired drives and distortions with vintage character and modern flexibility. Their in-house manufacturing emphasizes authentic analog tone with practical features for working players.
The Tackleberry is a bass guitar preamp inspired by legendary 1980s bass amplifier heads, delivering thick, punchy tones with growl and aggression. Built around a Class-A JFET circuit, it offers ultra-high headroom—functioning as either a transparent preamp when placed after your bass, or a heavy saturation device when gain is pushed higher.
Controls include Gain (affects input saturation), Level (master volume with up to 23dB boost capability), Bass switch (low-cut filter at 210Hz, 150Hz, or 75Hz), and Clipping switch (off, symmetrical LED/diode, or asymmetrical MOSFET/diode). The clipping modes introduce harmonics and distortion at higher gain settings, creating everything from subtle grit to full-on overdrive. Running on 9V DC at under 30mA, the Tackleberry excels at pushing power amplifiers while maintaining bass guitar's fundamental low-end. True bypass switching.
