The Distortron isolates the distortion section from the Box of Rock, offering the same JTM45-inspired overdrive in a simpler, more affordable package. It adds versatility through a Lo/Hi gain switch and a Subs toggle for adjusting low-frequency content.

The Lo setting provides vintage-voiced crunch perfect for classic rock, while Hi mode pushes into more modern saturation. The Subs switch adjusts bass response to match different guitars and amplifiers. Controls include Volume, Tone, and Drive.

Drawing minimal current, the Distortron cleans up beautifully with guitar volume and responds to picking dynamics like a real tube amplifier. It's become popular among players who want the Box of Rock tone without the boost section, or as a more budget-friendly entry into the Zvex distortion family.
