The Chromatron represents 10 years of refining the state variable filter circuit. This optically-controlled analog filter switches between envelope control and expression pedal control with a single footswitch press, offering both dynamic auto-wah and manual synth-like sweeps.
Seven knobs (Response, Tone, Mix, Attack, Decay, Resonance, Boost) combine with three toggle switches (Range, Sweep direction, Band mode) for extensive tonal control. The original envelope detector design produces musical filter responses spanning vintage quack to future-synth psychedelia.
The built-in effects loop allows inserting pedals between the envelope detector and filter sections—perfect for adding fuzz or other effects to the processed signal. True bypass switching and audiophile-grade components ensure pristine signal integrity.
