Stratus
DIY PCB for building an Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer clone - the mid-humped overdrive that defined rock tone.
Aion FX from Des Moines, IA has helped guitarists build studio-quality effects since 2011. Their Tube Screamer PCB documents the circuit that launched a thousand clones.
The Stratus recreates the Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer, which traces back to the Maxon OD-808 Overdrive (1979). The TS-808 and TS-9 added the now-famous tone control but are otherwise very similar to the OD-1 regarding feedback diode-clipping arrangement.
The Tube Screamer became THE overdrive pedal, defining the mid-humped character countless players associate with "overdrive." From Stevie Ray Vaughan to John Mayer, its circuit has been used, modded, and cloned more than any other pedal. The Aion version documents the standard TS-9 topology while noting component changes for exploring boutique variations like the Landgraff, Fulltone Fulldrive, and Lovepedal Eternity.
