Theseus
DIY PCB for building an Analogman King of Tone clone - the dual Bluesbreaker with 5-year waiting list.
Aion FX from Des Moines, IA has helped guitarists build studio-quality effects since 2011. Their King of Tone PCB makes the most sought-after boutique overdrive accessible without years of waiting.
The Theseus recreates the Analogman King of Tone, consisting of two modified Marshall Bluesbreakers in series, each independently switchable. The circuit became legendary not just for its sound but for the 5-year waiting list to buy one. The Aion version adds a send/return loop between channels for enhanced pedalboard flexibility.
The King of Tone delivers transparent, amp-like overdrive with incredible stacking versatility. Two channels allow subtle rhythm boost plus lead overdrive, or stacking both for higher gain while maintaining clarity. The circuit's modification of the classic Bluesbreaker topology created a new benchmark for boutique overdrive. The Aion PCB makes this unobtainable pedal a realistic DIY project.
