Exploder

Beautiful Noise Effects is a boutique builder from Newcastle, Australia. The Exploder extracts and expands the gain circuit from When The Sun Explodes into a standalone, pedalboard-friendly format with vastly more tone customization.

The gain circuit is a 3-way switchable hard-clipping preamp with 1000x gain amplification feeding an active 3-band EQ. Sym mode provides even hard-clipping that gets compressed and fuzzy at high gain; Off mode removes diode clipping for op-amp overload (warning: buzzing, noise, potentially amp-exploding gain); Asym mode delivers harsh, nasal uneven clipping.

The 3-band active EQ can fully cut any frequency band to zero—with all EQ knobs at zero, only the white noise generator outputs. The envelope-controlled white noise blends lo-fi cassette hiss, broken radio, rainfall, or harsh washes of noise that turn on and off with your playing.
