DSD-3 Digital Sampler/Delay
1986 sampler/delay, functionally identical to DSD-2. Released at a lower price point.
The DSD-3 is functionally identical to the DSD-2, released in 1986 at a lower price point by using cost-reduced manufacturing. It offers the same digital sampling and delay capabilities in the standard Boss compact format.
Up to 800ms of digital delay time, shared with a sampling mode that captures and plays back audio. The sampling function records a snippet and plays it back in a loop, making it another early Boss experiment with what would eventually become dedicated looper pedals.
E.Level, F.Back, D.Time, and Mode controls. Same digital sound character as the DD-2/DD-3 era of Boss digital effects. At the time, having both delay and sampling in a compact pedal was novel enough to justify a separate product line.
Produced from 1986 to 1989. Less collected than the DSD-2 since they're sonically identical, but still an interesting piece of Boss's digital effects history. The sampling concept eventually evolved into the RC series of loop stations.
