FZ-1w Fuzz
Waza Craft silicon fuzz with searing sustain - vintage grit meets modern reliability.
The FZ-1W marks Boss's return to fuzz after a long absence, and they went big: a Waza Craft silicon fuzz built in Japan. Standard mode delivers aggressive, cutting fuzz with tight low end and searing sustain. Custom mode loosens the feel for a more vintage, sputtery response.
Silicon transistors provide the gain, giving the FZ-1W a brighter, more focused voice than germanium fuzzes. The sustain is massive in Standard mode, holding notes until your arm gets tired. Custom mode dials back the compression and lets pick dynamics breathe, getting closer to 60s fuzz territory while keeping modern reliability.
Level, Fuzz, and Tone controls. The Tone knob has a wide sweep, from woolly darkness to bright, sizzling cut. The Standard/Custom toggle effectively gives you two fuzz pedals in one enclosure.
Boss hadn't released a dedicated fuzz since the FZ-5 in 2005, and before that the FZ-3 in 1993. The FZ-1W represents a serious statement: a ground-up fuzz design built to Waza Craft standards.
