FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz
Aggressive hyper fuzz with octave mode - an underrated cult classic for doom and stoner.
The FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz is a cult classic that flew under the radar during its 1993-1997 production run but has since become a favorite of doom, stoner, and sludge players. Two fuzz modes and an octave mode provide three distinct voices of aggressive, fuzzy saturation.
Fuzz I delivers a thick, mid-heavy fuzz. Fuzz II pushes harder with more bass and a scooped character. The Boost mode adds octave-up harmonics to the fuzz, creating the kind of ripping octave fuzz tone associated with the Octavia. All three modes are aggressive and unapologetically saturated.
Level, Tone, and Fuzz controls plus the three-position mode switch. At 14mA it's power-efficient. The FZ-2's character is raw and buzzy, without the smooth sustain of a Big Muff or the sputter of a Fuzz Face. It does its own thing.
Rising prices on the used market reflect growing appreciation for the FZ-2's unique voice. Electric Wizard and other doom bands adopted it for its thick, oppressive saturation. Boss hasn't reissued it, which only adds to its mystique.
