The RC-5 is Boss's current flagship compact looper, packing 99 phrase memories, 57 rhythm patterns, quantized loop recording, and MIDI sync into the standard single-footswitch format. Released in 2020 as the most capable compact loop station Boss has made.
Loop quantize automatically aligns your loop start and end points to the rhythm pattern, eliminating the timing imprecision that plagues footswitch-based looping. MIDI sync locks the loop tempo to external gear. 99 phrase memories with USB import/export for WAV files.
Level, Memory selector, and Rhythm controls plus a color display showing loop status. At 170mA it needs proper power. Stereo I/O for full-bandwidth looping. External footswitch input for hands-free control of additional functions.
The RC-5 represents the endpoint of what Boss can fit into a single-footswitch looper. Quantized recording and MIDI sync solve the two biggest complaints about compact loopers: timing accuracy and integration with other gear.
