OD-2R Turbo Overdrive
Turbo Overdrive with refined circuit. Same two modes, updated component selection for clarity.
The OD-2R is a revised version of the OD-2 Turbo Overdrive, adding remote switching capability through Boss's standard remote footswitch jack. This lets players switch between Normal and Turbo modes via an external footswitch like the FS-5U.
Sonically identical to the OD-2: warm overdrive with a Turbo mode for extra gain. The 'R' suffix in Boss's naming convention consistently means 'remote switching added.' The circuit and tonal character are unchanged from the original OD-2.
Level, Tone, and Drive controls plus the Turbo switch. At 16mA it draws slightly more than the OD-2, likely due to the remote switching circuitry. Produced from 1994 to 1999 as a direct replacement for the OD-2.
For players who used the OD-2 and wanted hands-free mode switching without stomping on the pedal's built-in switch. The remote switching was a practical upgrade for gigging musicians.
