PH-3 Phase Shifter
Digital phaser with rise and step modes - from vintage swoosh to synth-like effects.
The PH-3 Phase Shifter replaced the analog PH-2 in 2000 with a digitally-controlled phaser offering multiple stage configurations, step phasing, and a rise mode. It's Boss's most feature-rich compact phaser.
Multiple modes cover 4-stage, 8-stage, 10-stage, and 12-stage phasing, plus Step (quantized steps instead of smooth sweep), Rise (ascending-only sweep), and Vintage (analog-modeled). More phase stages produce deeper, more complex sweeps. The Step mode creates rhythmic, sequenced phasing.
Rate, Depth, Resonance, and Mode controls. At 44mA it draws significantly more than the analog phasers due to digital processing. Expression pedal input via the CTL jack for rate control.
The PH-3 is the comprehensive phaser for players who want more than basic four-stage sweep. The Step and Rise modes are creative tools that standard phasers can't replicate. The Vintage mode attempts to capture analog warmth through digital modeling.
