PQ-4 Parametric Equalizer
Guitar parametric EQ with sweepable mid frequency. Precise tone sculpting beyond graphic EQ.
The PQ-4 Parametric Equalizer provides a single sweepable parametric EQ band with adjustable center frequency, bandwidth, and boost/cut. Released in 1991, it offers more surgical precision than the GE-7's graphic EQ approach.
A parametric EQ lets you dial in the exact frequency you want to boost or cut, then adjust the bandwidth (Q) to determine how wide or narrow the affected range is. This precision is impossible with a graphic EQ, where the frequency bands are fixed.
Level, Bandwidth, Freq, and Boost/Cut controls. The Freq knob sweeps the center frequency across the guitar range. Bandwidth narrows or widens the affected frequency area. At 21mA it's modest on power.
The PQ-4 is a tone-shaping specialist. It's less immediately intuitive than a graphic EQ, but far more precise for targeting specific problem frequencies or enhancing particular tonal characteristics.
