RV-2 Digital Reverb
Early digital reverb with room and hall algorithms for ambient enhancement.
The RV-2 Digital Reverb was Boss's first compact digital reverb pedal, released in 1987. It offered four reverb modes in the standard compact format, bringing studio-style reverb to pedalboards for the first time at an affordable price.
Four reverb types: Room, Hall, Gate, and Plate. Each mode provides a different reverb character, from the intimate ambiance of Room to the expansive decay of Hall. Gate reverb delivers the classic 80s gated reverb sound. The algorithms were impressive for 1987 compact pedal technology.
E.Level, Tone, and D.Time (decay time) controls. Simple three-knob operation covers the essential reverb parameters. Produced from 1987 to 1994, when it was replaced by the RV-3.
The RV-2 demonstrated that quality reverb could work in a compact pedal. While the algorithms seem basic by modern standards, they were a significant achievement in 1987 and introduced an entire generation of guitarists to reverb as a pedalboard effect.
