VG-800 V-Guitar Processor
V-Guitar processor with GK pickup for guitar modeling, alternate tuning, and virtual capo.
The VG-800 V-Guitar Processor was Boss's flagship guitar modeling processor, using a GK-compatible divided pickup to model different guitars, pickups, and tunings. It represented the cutting edge of guitar modeling technology in the late 90s.
Guitar modeling transformed the sound of one guitar into another: single-coil to humbucker, electric to acoustic, standard tuning to open tuning. The divided pickup processed each string independently for accurate per-string pitch shifting and modeling. A comprehensive effects section complemented the modeling.
Floor unit format with multiple footswitches, expression pedal, and display. GK 13-pin input required for full modeling. MIDI integration for external control.
The VG-800 was ahead of its time in guitar modeling. The technology evolved into the VG-99 and eventually the SY-1000, but the VG-800 proved that real-time guitar modeling was possible.
