Magawa
Military-grade opamp distortion with Ruetz mod Contour and silicon/germanium clipping modes.
Baltimore Sonic Research Institute (BSRI Audio) is based in Baltimore and hosts the annual Baltimore Pedal Show. Their Magawa takes a popular distortion platform and adds flexible mods for the widest possible tonal range.
The Contour control is based on the Ruetz mod, opening up the pedal's character. The clipping section offers both classic silicon diode tone and an asymmetrical germanium mode for added compression and softer edges. The Filter pot direction has been flipped so turning up adds more treble.
Limited editions of the Magawa have been released in small batches of 15 units, making certain versions collectible. Various LM108 op-amp variants have been used across different production runs.
A refined take on classic op-amp distortion with thoughtful modern modifications.
