Crom
Supa Tone Bender-style fuzz with tweed amp tone circuit and Turbo boost switch.
The Caroline Guitar Company Crom is a 'fuzzstortion' inspired by Supa Tone Benders and early Big Muffs, with a crucial twist: the tone stack is replaced with a circuit modeled on Fender tweed-era amps. Named for the Conan the Barbarian deity.
The tweed-style tone circuit eliminates the typical tone-suck of Muff designs, delivering full-bodied fuzz that cuts through mixes. Controls are Conan-themed: Mountain (tone), Sword (gain), and Helmet (output).
A side-mounted Turbo switch engages a room-filling boost. An internal trimpot adjusts bias/gate. The Crom works well with both clean and overdriven amps, tightening up with Turbo off or getting huge with it engaged. Priced at $189.
