The Catalinbread Knight School Bit Crush is a sample rate reducer from the Knight School series of affordable compact effects. The Degrade knob reduces the sampling rate of your signal, taking snapshots with decreasing accuracy as you turn it up. Fully down, no effect. Nudge it up and digital aliasing artifacts creep in. Max it out and the signal collapses into stepped, crunchy destruction.
Mix blends wet and dry across the full range, letting you dial in subtle digital grit underneath your clean tone or go full Asteroids arcade machine. The simplicity is the point: two knobs, one job, no pretense.
The Knight School series started as DIY kits and expanded into pre-built pedals. The Bit Crush handles the digital destruction department while its siblings cover fuzz, overdrive, tremolo, and synth.
