Zero Point
Manual tape flanger with through-zero sweep—push the button for jet-engine flanging effects.
The Catalinbread Zero Point recreates the effect of manual tape flanging, where an engineer would press against a tape reel flange to slow it down. There's no LFO—instead, you press and hold the momentary footswitch to sweep through the flange effect, including through the zero point where the delayed and dry signals perfectly cancel, creating that characteristic "jet engine" swoosh.
The pedal features an internal gain trimpot for level matching. When the switch isn't pressed, the pedal passes clean signal. Press it and the flange sweeps from subtle chorus-like thickening through the dramatic null point. The speed of your press determines the sweep rate, making it a genuinely performative effect.
Runs on 9–18V DC. Unlike conventional flangers with fixed LFO patterns, the Zero Point puts the effect entirely in your hands (or feet). It's the closest a pedal gets to the original studio tape flanging technique without actual tape machines.
