EP Plus

ClinchFX is a small-batch pedal builder specializing in recreations of the legendary Echoplex preamp circuit. Their designs focus on capturing the 'magic tone' that has made Echoplex preamps essential tools for countless guitarists.

The EP+ builds on the successful EP-PRE design by adding a second JFET boost stage capable of up to 18dB of clean boost. The internal charge-pump converts 9V to over 17V (or 12V to 23V), providing ample headroom for transparent boost even at high settings.

The front end is a standard EP-PRE common-source JFET preamplifier with the early/late serial number tone switch, offering bright (older) and dark/warm (later) Echoplex voicings. The second stage adds active boost with reduced output impedance, enabling longer cable runs without high-frequency loss.

Compatible with both 9V and 12V DC power while drawing only 5mA, the EP+ delivers the Echoplex magic with serious boost capability for solos or pushing amps into natural overdrive.
