Reissued version of the classic 1973 op-amp overdrive with modern updates.
The DOD Overdrive Preamp 250 is the modern reissue of the legendary 1973 original. It recreates the distinctive op-amp overdrive circuit that influenced countless drive pedals while adding contemporary improvements like true bypass and a standard 9V DC power jack.
The circuit uses an LM741 op-amp for clipping, which gives it a cutting midrange character different from diode-clipping Tube Screamer designs. The two-knob simplicity—just Gain and Level—belies its tonal range, from clean boost to aggressive distortion.
