Tarus Bulba MK2
Germanium Tone Bender with switchable MK1.5/MK2 modes, Velcro control, and pickup simulator.
Drunk Beaver is a Polish pedal company founded by Ukrainian builder Vitalii Bobrov. The Taras Bulba MK2 is named after Gogol's legendary Ukrainian protagonist, with the TB initials intentionally referencing Tone Bender heritage.
NOS 1970s-80s germanium transistors (including German MP20 and Soviet P416B) drive this switchable dual-mode fuzz. The Mode toggle selects between Tone Bender MK1.5 (2 transistors) and MK2 (3 transistors) circuits, each with separate internal biasing. A buffered pickup simulator with impedance control allows placement anywhere in your chain without losing input sensitivity.
Attack controls gain, Hi-Cut rolls off highs, Volume sets output, and Bias adjusts the second transistor stage for midrange character changes. The Velcro control feeds back between transistor stages for gated, sputtery textures. Draws 3.5mA from 9V DC center-negative.
