Electro-Harmonix used germanium transistors for this overdrive pedal. The result is warmer and more touch-sensitive than silicon designs.

Gain and Volume controls with a Bias knob for adjusting the germanium operating point. Low bias settings produce sputtery, gated sounds. Higher settings deliver smooth overdrive. The germanium character adds warmth throughout.
