The Bard
Music Man HD130 preamp tone captured in a pedal. Warm, open breakup with that signature clean headroom.
Electronic Audio Experiments created The Bard to emulate the Music Man HD130 amplifier. The HD130 was a 130-watt solid-state/tube hybrid amp known for its warm, open breakup and hi-fi clean tones.
The circuit recreates the HD130's preamp section using FET transistors. The EQ is voiced to match the original amp's characteristic high-end sparkle and tight low end. At low gain settings it excels as a clean boost. Push it and you get warm, natural saturation.
Three-band EQ provides serious tone shaping. The Mid control is particularly responsive. The circuit stacks well with other pedals, adding warmth and headroom to whatever comes before it.
A sleeper choice if you want amp-like tones outside the usual Fender/Marshall vocabulary.
