Berkeley
Uni-Vibe recreation with matched vactrols instead of a bulb. Analog path, digital control, expression/CV input.
Horrothia Effects is a boutique builder based in Falmouth, Cornwall, UK. Designed by Tom Oakes, each pedal emphasizes fit, finish, and ergonomics with CAD design.
The Berkeley recreates late-60s Uni-Vibe sounds in a smaller enclosure. The signal path uses carbon film resistors, Mylar caps, and transistors chosen for vintage characteristics. Instead of a bulb, hand-matched vactrols provide the photocell modulation.
Digital control enables features like relay true bypass (activated by holding footswitch on power-up) and expression pedal control via TRS jack. Also compatible with modular synth CV. Being discontinued as key components are no longer available.
