Tube Screamer TS808
The 1979 original. JRC4558D chip, mid-hump EQ, and SRV made this the most cloned pedal in history.
Ibanez is a Japanese guitar and accessory manufacturer owned by Hoshino Gakki. The Tube Screamer was designed by Susumu Tamura at Maxon in 1979 and became the most influential overdrive pedal in history.
The TS808 was the first Tube Screamer, released 1979-1982. Named by Sammy Ash who said it sounded like a "screaming tube amp." The JRC4558D op-amp and symmetrical soft-clipping diodes create the signature sound: warm overdrive with boosted mids that helps guitars cut through a mix.
Stevie Ray Vaughan made it famous, and countless players followed. The narrow enclosure, square footswitch, and hand-wired construction define the original. Originals fetch premium prices; the reissue faithfully recreates the circuit.
