Tube Screamer TS9
The 1982 successor to the TS808. Slightly brighter and edgier, loved for cutting through mixes.
Ibanez is a Japanese guitar and accessory manufacturer owned by Hoshino Gakki. The Tube Screamer was designed by Susumu Tamura at Maxon in 1979 and became the most influential overdrive pedal in history.
The TS9 replaced the TS808 in 1982 when the original square footswitch became unavailable. The circuit is nearly identical - only two resistors in the output buffer differ, giving the TS9 a slightly brighter, more cutting character.
Same Drive, Tone, and Level controls. Same JRC4558D op-amp (though some used TA75558P). The brightness helps guitars cut through dense band mixes. Still in production today and remains the most popular Tube Screamer variant.
