1966 Series Bender
Handwired Tone Bender MK 1.5 replica. NOS germanium, carbon resistors. Limited to 20 units total.
JHS built the 1966 Series as a labor of love—Josh Scott handwiring just twenty units of each pedal using his personal stash of NOS components. The series honors 1966, the pivotal year when four legendary circuits emerged that shaped guitar tone forever. This wasn't mass production, it was archaeology.
The Bender replicates the transitional Tone Bender MK 1.5 circuit, the aggressive three-transistor design that bridged early fuzz evolution. Scott hand-matched germanium transistors to the circuit alongside high-grade carbon composition resistors and oversized capacitors. He tweaked pot tapers to feel more intuitive than the originals, added a power supply filter capacitor for noise reduction, and included true bypass switching.
Volume, Attack, and Tone controls match the original layout. Positive ground voltage requires isolated power—no daisy chaining. Place it first in your signal chain for proper impedance. Originally $399, sold exclusively through Sweetwater.
