1966 Series Italy
Handwired Vox/Italian Tone Bender replica. Hand-matched germanium pair. Twenty hand-signed units.
JHS completed the 1966 Series quartet with the Italy, honoring the Vox Tone Bender that JEN manufactured in Italy for Thomas Organ Company. The circuit shares topology with the Tone Bender MK 1.5 but delivers brighter character—designed to cut through dark British amps with increased treble response compared to Fuzz Face circuits.
Josh Scott handwired all twenty units using NOS components from his personal collection. Hand-matched germanium transistors anchor the two-transistor circuit alongside high-grade carbon composition resistors and oversized capacitors. Scott added a single power supply filter capacitor to lower noise while maintaining circuit authenticity.
The simple layout—two transistors, two capacitors, six resistors—defined Italian fuzz tones in the sixties. Positive ground voltage requires isolated power without daisy chaining. Place it first in your signal chain for correct impedance. Twenty hand-signed units at $399, exclusively through Sweetwater alongside the Bender, Boost, and Fuzz.
